SendToYemen

About this site

Why SendToYemen exists

Yemen does not have one exchange rate. It has two, because the central bank split into rival institutions in Aden and Sana'a, and the rial is worth dramatically different amounts depending on which area your family lives in.

Sites that quote "the" Yemeni rial rate are giving diaspora senders a number that may be wrong by a factor of two or more. This site tracks both rates side by side and explains why the split exists.

We are not a money-transfer operator. Where a link earns us a commission, we say so on the how we are funded page.

How the data is kept current

Both rates are compiled weekly from public reporting — the Aden-based central bank's published figures and established outlets covering the Yemeni economy. Every figure carries its date and source. We do not publish a rate we cannot attribute.

If you spot a figure that is out of date or wrong, that is genuinely useful — it is the fastest way this gets corrected. You can reach us through the contact details on this page while a dedicated channel is being set up.
